Scholz is a member of the far-left Die LINKE party, which is aligned with Kremlin-funded Josef Koren and World Without Nazism and its assault on "fascistic" Latvian authorities and society.

Rubinfeld cites anti-Latvian Russian propaganda on his personal web site and was apparently escorted away from the scene of the commemoration by police the following year (2013).

In this 2013 RT (formerly Russia Today — the Russian state propaganda channel) video, Legionnaires are equated with Nazis, and the annual commemorations described as "marches by former SS Legionnaires." Rubinfeld appears at 2:10. Note that the "Latvian anti-fascist movement" is, in fact, Kremlin-funded anti-Latvian agitation. There is no such native Latvian movement.

Zuroff is the director of the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Jerusalem. Notably, at the time, Zuroff was working in cooperation with Josef Koren. To his credit, Zuroff has since cut his ties with Koren and has also attested the Latvian Legion committed no crimes. However, he remains a fierce critic of the commemoration.

Rīga-born Ždanoka is co-chairwoman of the Latvian Russian Union and an EU parliamentarian, sitting with the European Greens–European Free Alliance. Ždanoka was a fierce opponent of the restoration of Latvian independence from the Soviet Union and one of the leaders of the pro-Soviet Interfront opposition. Interfront was particularly active during the January 1991 events in Latvia, during which several civilians and law enforcement officers were killed in clashes with OMON units loyal to the central government in Moscow. Former Interfront members with Latvian citizenship are banned from serving in the Latvian parliament.

Jānis Kuzins is a Latvian-born Russian Jew with a media, commercial, and political background including former city council member of Jūrmala. As of 2018, he is co-founder/leader of the socialist Jaunā Saskaņa (New Harmony) party. At the time, in 2012, he was the chairman of the association "Against Nazism" and lobbied YouTube to delete a factual documentary about the Latvian Legion which was posted at the Latvian military's YouTube channel.

Dvorak is a member of the Austrian section of the Trotskyist Fourth International. In 2014, he attended Boris Kagarlitsky's "Yalta Conference on Solidarity with the Resistance in South East Ukraine", that is, supporting Russia's invasion of Ukraine: annexation of Crimea and deportation of Tatars from their homeland, and occupation of eastern Ukraine. Notably, Kagarlitsky groused about propaganda that Russia is somehow at fault in Ukraine. Kagarlitsky's Institute of Globalization and Social Movements cooperates on projects with the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, which in turn is affiliated with the far-left Kremlin-aligned Die LINKE party

Beck is a member of the German The Greens party and EU the Greens–European Free Alliance, along with Tatjana Ždanoka.

Coppi is German historian whose father the Nazis executed shortly after his birth, and his mother when he was only 8 months old. He has extensively studied the Red Orchestra anti-Nazi resistance movement (i.e., dating to the Nazi regime). He is state chairman of the anti-fascist (now hijacked by Josef Koren and the Kremlin) VVN-BdA.

Eberhardt writes frequently for the website www.neues-deutschland.de, "New Germany — Socialist Daily Newspaper". Among his bylines is the VVN-BdA version of the 2016 stunt in which five members were detained in Rīga (in German). Interestingly, other accounts did not contain the detail that the VVN-BdA members were taken in a prisoner transport (with siren wailing at times) to a long-distance transportation terminal, given a one-way ticket, and put on a bus back to Berlin.
